Be a Fringe Performer at Sculpture Carnival 2002!

Sculpture Carnival is back in town! Come 23-26 May 2002, Sculpture Square will be bustling with excitement as imaginations run wild and creative sparks fly.

Held for the fourth year running, Sculpture Carnival is Singapore's largest visual arts education programme for children aged 4 to 12.

Through fun-filled workshops conducted by acclaimed artists, it aims to expose children to the world of 3-dimensional art forms, the creation of art, as well as the various media involved in this process.

Our theme for this year is Asian folklore - stories and legends which will inspire children to tap their imagination, and create unique pieces of art.

We invite interested cultural and performing arts groups to be a part of this event as fringe performers, especially if you'll be having any ongoing or upcoming productions revolving around Asian folklore.

The dates and times for Sculpture Carnival 2002 are as follows:

23 May to 24 May 2002 (open to schools only) - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

25 May to 26 May 2002 (open to public) - 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Bits and Pieces of Camille Paglia's SEXUAL PERSONAE
Hoffman and Diaz get "Personal"

Dustin Hoffman, who was mistaken for a lesbian in "Tootsie," will now play a straight lawyer who falls in love with a lesbian in "Personal Injuries." Hoffman headlines the big-screen adaptation of Scott Turow's legal drama as a crooked attorney who's forced to become an informant for the FBI. His character, Robbie Feaver, is subsequently partnered with female FBI agent Evon Miller (played by Cameron Diaz), who's able to resist his sleazy advances because she's a closeted lesbian. (The fact that she's 35 years younger than Hoffman might also have something to do with it.) The Touchstone film will be Hoffman's directorial debut and will reportedly premiere in 2003.
