.:: WOMEN AGAINST VIOLENCE, MALAYSIA ::.

WAVE.GOV.MY

You can watch. Or you can speak.

There's a cancer that's slowly eating the soul of our society. It's name is Violence. Last year alone, over 3,700 cases of rape, brutality and murder were reported in our country. If we don't stop violence from taking root in our society, if we continue to allow it to corrupt our young and to turn our dreams into ashes, it will slowly, but surely, destroy us.

That's why on 23 July 2001, the Ministry of Women and Family Development launched a new campaign on Women Against Violence. But that doesn't mean it's for women alone. If we're going to rid our society of this cancer, we're going to need the support of every Malaysian, men and women. The goal is to help bring together the men and women of Malaysia in the fight against violence in our society.

But we can't do it alone. Each and every one of us has a role to play in stopping violence from corrupting our society and destroying our dreams. Help us stop violence from becoming part of our culture. Every voice counts. Yours can help us make a difference.

Objectives

To increase public awareness of violence occurring in our society, including violence against women.

Message from Minister of Women and Family Development

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

The Ministry of Women and Family Development and the women of Malaysia are concerned about violence in our society. Violence is not our way of life and has to be overcome. The Women Against Violence (WAVe) campaign is a contribution of the Ministry and the women of Malaysia towards maintaining and promoting tranquility in our country.

The main objective of the campaign is to increase awareness of violence in the society as well as what we, as members of society, might do to help overcome violence.

It is hoped that all parties, not only women, will participate in this effort. Through this website, individuals who would like to lend a helping hand can register themselves. After some training, you will be requested to help victims of violence, especially at the One-Stop Crisis Centres at the various hospitals.

I would like to convey my gratitude to all those who have helped to make this campaign possible. Let us pray that out efforts will bring success.
